When I was growing up my passion in life was engineering and so I chose to study Civil Engineering, but at the end of my degree I wanted a new challenge and so I moved into IT. I found that IT was a challenge that satisfied both my left brains need for logic and my need to express my creativity. During my IT career I have been a programmer/developer, team leader and a project manager, but my greatest joy has been in teaching.

There is an extraordinary thrill in being able to transfer knowledge and make it understood. It’s an almost electric feeling of alertness and awareness as you quite literally see the ‘light bulb’ go on. For me, there is something really amazing in seeing people develop. It was fascinating to watch people go through different stages; nervousness at the beginning, occasionally fear, sometimes anxiety, to growing self confidence and finally self assuredness. Having seen people go through this process time and time again, it dawned on me that more often than not, it is our personal insecurities that limit our success; whether it is the need to be liked, the fear of rejection, the fear of failure or even the fear of success itself.

This is a pattern that I have observed in many areas of business. Our limitations are not about the work, the subject of study, the presentation, the selling on the phone, the board meetings or even the customer’s criticism; it is about us and our perceptions, our insecurities, our experiences, the traumatic events that colour our lives and the issues we struggle with. It is these things that ultimately limit our successes. When we tackle these, we can develop an unstoppable mindset and go on to create the life we want. I truly believe that anyone can learn anything. You are not limited by intelligence or ability.

Over time I became more intrigued with the human aspect of business. What fascinated me were the interactions and dynamics of people and understanding what lay at the roots of their limits. I had my own ‘ah ha’ moment of self discovery when I realised that my true passion was in helping people create the life they wanted – not just in business, but life in general and so I began to work with Dr Lida to combine our skills and knowledge to create the unique Naked Gene Juggler (NakedGJ) processes and begin helping our clients to reach their potential.
